Shon Tyler
Meet Student Doctor Shon Tyler!
Shon is originally from California’s Bay area and grew up very family oriented. After high school, Shon attended Arizona State University and received his bachelor’s degree in Film and Media studies. After an unsatisfying summer internship, Shon decided to join the healthcare profession. With his change of heart came more schooling. He attended Portland State University to fulfill the prerequisites for dental school. After completion of these classes, he gained acceptance to Howard University’s College of Dentistry, where he is now enrolled, and finishing his first year. He looks forward to the challenges that await these next three years of dental school.

Racine Ramanand
Meet Student Doctor Racine Ramanand!
Racine hails from the island of Jamaica, where she grew up in a small, rural community by the name of Portland Cottage. After completing high school in Jamaica, she moved to the United States to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Biology at Howard University. Having grown up around many family members in the profession, and upon shadowing them, there was never a doubt in her mind that being a Dentist was her calling. In her Senior year of college, she applied and was awarded an acceptance to Howard University's College of Dentistry, where she is enjoying her first semester with a wonderful, and incredibly intelligent batch of classmates. She will graduate in the year 2022!
Iman Soleymani
Meet Student Doctor Iman Soleymani!
Iman was born in Iran and mostly raised in Northern Virginia. Iman completed his undergraduate education at George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After taking a few years off to accomplish other goals, Iman decided to return to school to pursue his true passion of becoming a dentist. Returning to school was not an easy task to accomplish, but in order to better prepare for dental school and to become a better applicant, Iman further went on to obtain a Masters in Biomedical Science from Barry University in Florida. Iman is currently completing his first year of dental school at Howard University College of Dentistry.
Michaela Thorne
Meet student doctor, Michaela Thorne!
Michaela was born in Rocky Mount, NC and completed her undergraduate career at the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill. She later received her M.S. in Biophysics and Physiology (with a concentration in Complementary and Alternative Medicine) from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She has developed an interest in biological anthropology and the opportunity for dentistry in addressing sleep-disordered breathing as it relates to TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder). Ms. Thorne, too is enrolled as a first year dental student at Howard University College of Dentistry.
Kezia was born in Ghana and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Kezia completed her undergraduate at the Notre Dame of Maryland University, where she obtained a B.A. in Biology. She decided to pursue her passion of becoming a dentist and to one day return to her hometown to provide aid to those in need. She is currently a first year dental student at Howard University College of Dentistry.

What stands out to me about pediatric dentistry is the focus on prevention rather than just treatment. By scheduling regular check-ups, dentists can detect potential problems before they become serious. This not only saves parents time and money but also keeps children comfortable and confident in their care. pediatric dentist
